Chemical Peel on the Face to Reduce Spots and Improve Appearance of the Skin

Chemical peel on face reducing spots and improving skin appearance

We perform a number of cosmetic treatments at Clarus Dermatology and among them, chemical peels are time-tested, high-value, and popular for dealing with acne, sun-damage, and precancerous skin growths.

We recently saw this patient for a medium depth chemical peel on her face to reduce the number of both benign and premalignant (actinic keratoses) spots and improve the appearance of her skin. During the peel, the skin gets covered with an acidic chemical solution, which causes it to eventually peel off. Chemical peeling may look simple, but it is a high-risk procedure with significant risk of scarring, infection and prolonged color abnormalities if done incorrectly.

Matching the correct peeling agent, in the correct strength, to address the cosmetic/medical issues at hand is the difficult part. We have seen and treated patients who were burned by non-dermatologists as well as self-administered peels they purchased on the internet.

As you can see in the After 3 Months image, there is a dramatic reduction in the number of spots on the face and the skin has taken on a smoother and less wrinkled look. Contact us today to schedule your treatment.
